Our 11th Anniversary!

Curtis surprised me and took me up into the Uintah mountains to a place called Bear River Lodge. There are individual cabins that you stay in. There was a fishing pond that was stocked with fish, 4-wheeling, and definately in this environment lots of rest and relaxation. you are totally up in the mountains away from everything. Let's just say we sure needed the vacation! We hiked down to the river to fish and realized we forgot the camera, ugh! Well neither of us wanted to go back up, and boy am I sorry because we caught a TON of fish. Every time Curt would help get the hook out of my fish and I would cast again there would be another fish on. Let's just say Curt didn't get in as much fishing time, but he was so happy I was having fun. I could never understand why Curt loved fly fishing so much until I was actually catching fish! It is a lot of fun. We rented a 4-wheeler after fishing and we went on a 4 hour ride through the mountains. There was a point in the trail where it can go 2 ways- steep or the normal trail. For me I am thinking of being pregnant and I say, "Curt we better take the normal trail", of course we don't and he takes the steep. All the while he is reassuring me that it will be fine. I can't even describe how STEEP the ride was! I know there were times where I felt like I had to hold on for dear life on the back of the machine or I would fall right off. The 4-wheeler was climbing over rocks and bumps that were making me nervous and my stomach was feeling tight, so I told Curt in my dramatic, pregnant, hormonal state, that I was getting off and walking! That only lasted so long because trying to hike in that terrain was more impossible. So there I was crying and telling myself I was stupid for going on that ride and being irresponsible for this little life inside of me. I quick said a little prayer that we would get back safely and everything would be o.k. Then I felt much more relaxed and not so tense. I started to figure out how to maneuver myself, so that when Curt was driving over all the rocks, and inclines I didn't feel the shock so bad. Once we were on the main trail back to the cabin I felt so relieved and we thorughly enjoyed the rest of the ride. I can only imagine the pressure Curt felt as the driver with me on the back, thanks honey for being such a patient man! We had such a relaxing time the rest of the weekend. Oh, just a side note, my children stayed with Lesley and Isaac and they said they had the best weekend ever and we asked if they missed us, Kemp said "nope, not at all", Cami said "nope" and Kerstyn said she cried for me when she was tired, it is so good to know our children were in such good hands, Thanks Sis (and bro-in-law)!I know this is a lengthy entry, but this is also kind of a little journal for our family, so thanks for being patient in reading!

A total blast, for free!

Thanks to my sister-in-law Tai for telling about this park in her blog. We had a blast and I can't believe it is free. They need to build more of these! The grounds were so nice and clean. Great place to hang out on those HOT summer days! Cami and her friend Alayna loved the bucket that splashes over your head. Of course Kerstyn's baby had to come along. Kemp brought his friend Justin who is moving so this was kind of a last memory for them. The other moms kept going on about how happy they were to find out about this park. Thanks to Tai for making us popular amongst our friends, Ha!

Holy Cow, 11 years!

Curt has been in Denver this week, and last night he shared a funny story. He attended a chamber of commerce meeting and he said there was lots to drink- wine, beer, liquors. He was offered a drink and just said, no thanks. As the meeting went on Curt said a guy came over and sat by him (who was pretty snuckered) he asked whether Curt was married or not. Curtis replied with a yeah and we are celebrating our 11th on Friday. He then asked if we had any kids, Curt said yes and that our fourth was on the way. Well, Curt said the guy just got up and walked off. We laughed about this on the phone because in our day and age I guess 11 years is something to be pretty proud of. I am looking forward to our 50th, that is going to be one heck of a party!!!! I am so dang lucky to have Curt. I look at the ways that we compliment each other in our lives. I could not be married to a greater man. He has taught me so much. Even when he is teasing the heck out of me, I couldn't love him more!

Mom and Dad's 40th Anniversary

We had so much fun on Sunday night for Mom and Dad's anniversary. We had a meal that we prepared from foods popular in the 60's and some of our family favorites. Lana and Craig put together a DVD of their 40 years together with some of their fav songs to go with it. Lesley made a scrapbook of pictures and letters from each of the children. We played a game of Name That Tune, my niece Brittany made it and put some 60's songs and some favorites. We also played a "How well do we know Mom and Dad" game. It was such a great evening, we were laughing and crying and dancing and singing. Mom and Dad danced and we were so impressed that Dad's still got it. They love to dance, and it was special to see.

Let's go fishin'

Curtis and Kemp went fishing this last Saturday and Kemp caught a fish. They didn't take the camera so we snapped a pic of Kemp with the fish right before they cooked it. Curtis had a very funny story to tell when they got home. He said he had a HUGE fish on his rod and he was cruising down the river to keep up with it, all of a sudden he hit a hole in the river and fell chest deep into the water. The fish hid under a log and they tried to net it, but it got away. All that for nothing. Better luck next time!

Yeah, it is finally Summer!

The kids have been out of school for over 2 weeks now and we have had only a few days of good weather. It has been cold and rainy. This is us on the Saturday before Father's day finally enjoying some good weather and doing something Summery. We have an Aquatic Center in Roy and the kids LOVE it there. We went with some friends and my sister Lana with her hubby Craig ! It was a free day at the park because of a summer family program in our county, so we got there right when they opened, and it was a blast!

The kids new pet

We gave in and got the kids 2 hamsters. Kemp got one and Cami and Kerstyn are sharing the other. Kerstyn is in the picture with their hamster named Lucy. Kemp had a hamster named Ted and after only one day of having him he escaped from the rolling ball and hid under our dishwasher, we have yet to find him! Kemp used his own money to buy a new hamster named Naomi, he thought that a girl would be more mellow. Come to find out that Kemp was getting no sleep at night because Naomi would chew on her cage and make a lot of noise, not what Kemp expected! Naomi's cage is out of his room now so he can sleep. These pets have been so much fun for the kids. Kerstyn loves to watch them play in their ball.
